
Stress, The Silent Killer
We use the word "Stress" when we feel that everything appears to have turned out to be meaningless - we are over-burdened and ponder whether we can truly adapt to the weights put upon us
A ‘Stress’ is something which makes us feel tired and upset and a ‘stressor’ is the one who gives the stress. It can be a thing or a person. For example – noise, work pressure, unpleasant people or even going out on a first date.
Anything that represents a threat to your health is a ‘stress’. Some types of stresses are beneficial for us - with no stress at all many say our lives would exhaust and would likely feel bored. However, when the stress undermine both our mental and physical wellbeing it is awful. Stress Causes Depression
The theme of 2017 World Health Day was Depression. Stress is the root cause of depression, 3 out of 5 people are suffering from depression which is caused by taking stress. Depression is one of the leading causes of ill health and disability worldwide. More than 300 million people are presently suffering with depression, an increase of more than 18% between 2005 and 2015.
Depression is also, the largest cause of disability worldwide. More than 80% of this disease burden is among people living in low and medium income countries.
Fight Depression! Fight for Yourself!
The toughest battle we ever fight in our life is the battle within ourselves. Here are a few tips to fight depression
- Make a routine and follow it strictly
- Talk to people who make you feel good. Discuss your problems with them
- Do some exercises daily
- Eat healthy
- Surround yourself with people. Hang out with your friends
- Relax
Don’t just give up. You never know what god has planned for you. Think positive and stay happy.
